Cara Despain Collection
Cara Despain's collection contains documentation of field work, process materials and site research that highlights the ambiguous relationship that exists between artwork and documentation. Despain's work interrogates the narratives and symbols surrounding industrialization, climate change, frontier expansion & land settlements.
Aurora Molina Collection
Aurora Molina's collection was produced during Aurora Molina's A/A (Artist as Archivist) residency with WAAM between 2022 and 2024. The collection includes digital photographs, artworks and ephemera.
Barbara Young Collection
Barbara Young's collection includes documentation of exhibitions organized throughout the Miami Dade Public Library System. This includes brochures, catalogs, photographs, newspaper clippings, and ephemera. Her archives offer us a critical insight into the visionary programming Young offered to Miami and gives us a unique into the art historical activities of Miami-Dade from the late 70s to the early 2000s.

About WAAM
WAAM was founded in 2018 as a research platform to explore how community-based archives can better serve women artists. Inspired by archival activism and critical shifts in the field, we set out to understand how community-rooted sites can reposition the way we interact with archival spaces. In 2020, with funding from the Wavemaker Grant, WAAM launched a pilot project to help eight artists preserve their studio archives.
