Claire Jeanine Satin Collection

Barbara Young part of what inspire WAAM
Satin, Claire Jeanine

South Florida-based contemporary artist Claire Jeanine Satin is a renowned book artist, sculptor, creator of public art installations and designer of “art jewelry”, with a BA from Sarah Lawrence College and an MFA from Pratt Institute.

She is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist who has exhibited extensively throughout the United States and Europe for over 30 years, her works have been acquired by many museums, private and public collections. Much of her work over the years has been influenced by the ideas of her friend and mentor, John Cage.

Satin's work is experimental and seeks to create alternative visions that reassemble experiences into new aesthetic forms. Her bookworks are not limited to traditional reading practices, but can take on other forms. For example, Seeing Language is a bookwork that visually presents evidence of the head, hand, eye, and heart.

Her work has been exhibited in the United States and Europe, and is held in many museums and private collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Library of Congress, and the Victoria & Albert Museum.
